‘In Transition 2.0′ was made to inspire communities with the possibilities of practical action and coming together to do stuff, so please organise a screening where you are, and invite as many people as possible.  The film cost us quite a bit to make, so we do ask that if you screen it you make a contribution to help offset that.  You can find out more about the very reasonable sliding scale for screening fees and how to book a screening here.  Please be lovely and give something back, so as to help us have the possibility of making ‘In Transition 3.0′.

If you are organising a screening, here are a few tips to help make it as successful as possible:

      • Promote it well:  you can download free template posters that you could use as the basis for your own posters here from the Screening Posters page on the Transition Network website.  Network with other groups, send press releases to the local press, make it an event, a celebration, a party even!
      • Check your equipment works: do the DVD player, the audio equipment and the projector all speak to each other and have you tested it before you have a hall full of keen viewers who have to talk amongst themselves while you turn things off and on again and ask “does anyone know how to use these things?”
      • Enable people to meet each other: your screening is a great opportunity to build connections between people.  Before the film, invite people to turn to the person next to them who they’ve not met before, and to speak for a couple of minutes each about who they are and why they’ve come.  Do the same after the film, before you go into a wider discussion.
      • Allow space to digest ‘In Transition 2.0′: don’t just show the film and then send people off out into the night.  Allow space for discussion and reflection, perhaps in smaller groups first and then in the whole group.
      • Share your thoughts on the film in the ‘reviews’ section of this website.
      • Buy a bunch of the DVDs of the film at a really good discount, and sell them at the screening.  This helps get the film out and also means you can make a few quid for your community project.  You can order them here.
      • Use the screening as a launch pad: if your community isn’t already a Transition initiative, and you’d like to start a project there, make sure you use the event to invite anyone else who wants to get involved to do so.

That’s it really!  Other than that, have fun, sit back and marvel at how many people turned up, how inspired they are to make change happen, and then brace yourself for the creativity it will unleash all around you!

In Transition 2.0 is an inspirational immersion in the Transition movement, gathering stories from around the world of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

You’ll hear about communities printing their own money, growing food everywhere, localising their economies and setting up community power stations. It’s an idea that has gone viral, a social experiment that is about responding to uncertain times with solutions and optimism.

In a world that is awash with gloom, here is a story of hope, ingenuity and the power of growing vegetables in unexpected places.
